Main & Service Laying Assistant
This course is an entry level program for new entrants into the gas industry. It covers an overview and introduction to the gas industry, various HSEQ related mandatory site requirements and basic tasks to assist with mains and service laying activities.

Course Details:
This course is conducted as follows:
- Pre-training course work: Students must complete 2-4 hours of course pre-work, which consists of 3 x e-Learning modules and 1 x theory assessment prior to attending face-to-face training.
***If a student does not complete the pre-training course work, they will not be allowed to attend training as this is a mandatory attendance requirement.***
- 4 days face-to-face training.
- Students must complete an online workplace assessment by evidence upload of workplace activities‚ within 12 weeks from the completion of the 4 day face-to-face training course.
- Elements of this training are refreshed according to Victorian gas asset owner requirements.
THIS COURSE PROVIDES A CERTIFICATE II FULL QUALIFICATION OUTCOME
Successful course completion certifies the student against UEG20122 Certificate II in Gas Supply Industry Operations, incorporating the following units of competency:
- UEGNSG002 Apply environmental policies and procedures in the utilities industry
- UEGNSG031 Prepare to work in the gas industry
- UEGNSG033 Carry out basic work activities in a gas industry work environment
- UEGNSG041 Apply WHS regulations, codes and practices in the gas supply industry
- UEGNSG010 Conduct general excavations
- UEGNSG052 Establish a utilities infrastructure work site
- UEGNSG058 Locate, prove and protect utility assets
- UEGNSG008 Assist with the construction and laying of gas distribution mains
- UEGNSG009 Assist with the construction, laying and connection of gas distribution services to mains
- HLTWHS005 Conduct manual tasks safely
- UEGNSG203 Evaluate and extinguish gas fire
- PMBWELD302E Join polyethylene plastic pipelines using electrofusion welding
Successful course completion also results in the following Non-Accredited industry training certificates of completion:
- Safety framework

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR STUDENTS
Students must bring the following to training:
- USI number (Unique Student Identifier) for accredited enrolment form.
- Normal approved work uniform (PPE – personal protective equipment safety clothing).
- Protective footwear (steel cap boots)
- Protective eyewear
- Protective gloves
- Pen & notebook
Certificates are awarded only after:
- Completion of all required training and assessment activities
- Full payment of all course fees
LANGUAGE, LITERACY & NUMERACY (LLN)
During your program, you will be required to hold the necessary LLN skills to carry out the following:
- Reading and interpreting procedures, manuals, drawings, forms and graphs
- Perform basic gas industry calculations
- Participate in group discussions
- Use technology to answer knowledge questions
When undertaking a full qualification program with EnerTrain, it is a requirement to complete an LLN test prior to attending your face to face training. After booking into the program, you will receive an email with instructions to complete the test, which we expect to take approximately 30mins.
CANCELLATION POLICY

Unfortunately, when you cancel without giving adequate notice, it prevents us from serving another client. This cancellation policy is used as a way of respecting the time commitment of all involved. It explains the process for requesting a cancellation and the fees applicable. This policy is used in fairness to both our business and the clients who would otherwise have wanted a booking.
EnerTrain firmly believes that a good client and business relationship is based upon mutual understanding, we want to be clear from the outset about all the costs you may face when engaging our services, so please contact us if you have any questions.
We understand situations can arise in which you must cancel your enrolment in the course. Due to limited appointment availability, we request that you cancel with adequate notice. This allows us to fill that booking slot. You may cancel by contacting us via:

When accepting a booking proposal or submitting an enrolment request via our website, you understand that we are required to dedicate resources and incur costs to provide the course, even before the course has started. If you cancel your enrolment in the course, you must give us written notice, in which case the below notice periods and fees will apply:
- 5 full business days: no fees payable
- 2-4 full business days: 50% of full course fee
- 1 full business day or less (including no show): 100% of full course fee
All references to cancellation of bookings in this policy, are also relevant to rescheduled bookings.
